FAITH

PERSONAL FAITH

It is hard for some people to swallow, I am not only a Muslim, my practices (for the most part) are in line with the orthodoxy. Surprisingly enough, the protests I have gotten about my beliefs are not from members of other religions, but rather people who cannot believe in God or agree with my concept of God. I find it irritating that there are quite many people out there who are set on destroying my beliefs, acting as some crusaders on behalf of "truth", and saving my soul from falling in the pitfalls of ignorance. I have often found it difficult to satisfy them or make them understand what I find so welcoming in my religion, faith, or belief. Now, I have come to the point where I will not explain it to them, rather, I choose to be content with my practices. Call me ignorant.

What I really cannot understand is why people are so set on invalidating my beliefs. Am I doing any harm to
humanity by believing in something like God? I am tired of hearing the contempt others have for religious people, or religion in general. It seems as if we are upholding some long tradition of unjustified wars, aggression, and irrationality, and we may be the next ones to start a war. Of course, some forget about territorial conflicts and attempts at destroying people with certain physical qualities. We also forget that something like science can even be a source of conflict in today's world (forgot about the Cold War and the Space Race?).
